It's Game Time! Grilled BBQ Chicken Breasts for Tailgating.
Grilled BBQ Chicken Breasts for Football Tailgating
Serves: 4-6 | Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 15-20 minutes
Ingredients:
- 4-6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 3 tbsp of one of featured chicken rubs
- 1 cup BBQ sauce of your choice (we recommend one of our tangy and sweet variety)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: 1 tbsp hot sauce for a spicy kick
Instructions:
1. Prep the Chicken:
- Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels.
- Rub olive oil evenly over both sides of the chicken breasts.
- Season each chicken breast generously with BBQ rub, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Let them sit for 10-15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
2. Preheat the Grill:
- Heat your grill to medium-high (about 400°F). If you're using a charcoal grill for that authentic tailgating experience, make sure your coals are hot and glowing before starting.
3. Grill the Chicken:
- Place the chicken breasts directly on the grill grates and cook for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F. Use tongs to flip the chicken to avoid piercing the meat.
- During the last 2 minutes of grilling, brush the chicken breasts generously with BBQ sauce on both sides, allowing the sauce to caramelize.
4. Rest and Serve:
- Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes to retain its juiciness.
- Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side for dipping, or slice the chicken to make sliders or wraps for easy tailgate eats.
Tailgate Tip:
Grill your chicken at home and pack it in foil. Once at the stadium, fire up your portable grill for a quick reheat, ensuring your chicken is piping hot and ready to serve with minimal effort!
Enjoy this finger-licking BBQ chicken as you cheer on your favorite football team! Don’t forget to bring extra napkins and maybe a cold beverage to wash it all down!
