Sear a NY strip steak in a frying pan. First, heat the cooking surface over high heat. Then add a little oil or butter to the pan - just enough to coat the surface. Place the steak in the pan and cook for about 4 minutes per side. Turn off heat when you're done searing for about 4 minutes before eating.
